League season has finished and now all the eyes are on another ICC Final. It has been a long journey of this final but now we are just 3 days away. Team India's problems
India will be playing WTC Final for the 2nd time. They lost the final last time against New Zealand. There were a lot of questions over their team selection and their players suddenly went below the standard and that cost them a title. India won the last ICC title in 2013 where they won the ICC Champions Trophy in England. But after that, they came close almost every time but couldn't finish on the right side. So this is 1st pressure that will be on them to get an ICC Trophy.
Lack of Match Practice
Yes, both teams played their last test match against each other in India and after that Indian players played the IPL continuously over 2 months. Aussies were also there but most of their key players were in rest and preparing for the final. Every format takes a bit of time to settle but this is grand finale and both teams don't have time to settle and they need to go with ball one.
Unsettled batting order
India was having a lot of injury issues in the last couple of years and who can forget the Gabba Test where India almost played with their 2nd XI. After that the issue continued and they lost a couple of key players like Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul. These 4 players were the permanent members of the team but unfortunately got Injured and India will miss them badly. The loss of Rishabh Pant is bigger than anybody else he changed the game with his unorthodox shots and bailed out Team India a couple of times in his short career. He played a key role in India's famous series win in Australia and put every team under pressure with his aggressive approach. India is going to miss him badly.
India's Bowling Line up
The Indian batting lineup looks always very strong but it has been below-average in big matches. But after that, their bowling was far poor than their batting. They almost got thrashed by the opposition in the big match. They failed to get a single wicket against Pakistan in the 2021 World Cup and then in the 2022 World Cup semi-final. Every time pressure came on them they were exposed badly. But in test cricket, they have been different especially Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami have done really well. And they both will be the key to India in pace-friendly conditions.
Overview of Australia
On the other side Australian team looks more comfortable than India. The key players were in the rest after the last series against India. So they will be fresh and ready to go. Their concern will be over the batting form of David Warner. He is struggling for the last year or so and it's hearting Australia. The rest of their batting lineup is in pretty good nick. Especially Usman Khawaja had a memorable last series and he will try to give one more punch. They have a fine combination that includes variety and skills.
So to me, Australia is having the upper hand but India will be having the faith to beat them and they did it in the past also.
